Camping and Racing with the Girls...

We have been wanting to take the girls camping for a while now and the Greenbrier UCI race was the perfect opportunity. They loved it! Even as the rain fell Saturday, Kaelyn dug under every rock in search of salamanders and Steffi...well, she played dinosaur inside the tent.


Cyndi, Larry and I rigged up a tarp to keep dry while the girls frollicked around the campground in the rain. It finally let up about dinner time and we settled into the night with a nice fire, S'mores and a flashlight tour of the 'hood. Sunday morning arrived with 40 degree temps and sunshine. Nice.


Kae and I rode down to the race course to get our numbers and she was pretty exicited about putting it on her bike and racing for the first time. She did well and hung tough with the bigger boys. The course was the same as always, rocky, hilly with a fast, muddy downhill section right next to our campsite. I saw the girls in the woods as I passed, but they were too busy looking under rocks to see me. Another great day in the mountains.
